When I was young, I loved reading and drawing comics – but I had no idea comics could be a profession!
During my talks, I work to demystify the process of making comics, honestly discuss my experiences, and show kids that comics are for everyone.
Comics aren’t just a stepping stone to other media – they are an art form!
As someone with an MFA in Sequential Art, I am passionate about the many ways in which comics can broaden our understanding of the world and help us to critically interrogate the media we consume. (Also, they’re really fun.)
I am fun, high-energy, and silly! And listen, prose authors are great and all, but do they perform live drawing demos for your kids? Will they be able to have fun side conversations about your kids’ favorite anime? Will they speed-draw Garfield on request???

Your books are so popular and hearing the process on how they are created was an eye opening experience for your audience. You connected so well with the students; your warm and caring personality made it comfortable for them to talk with you and ask questions.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an author take so much time with each kid during a book signing – every single kid walked out of there feeling so excited, important, and eager to keep reading. You’re the absolute best!
